- Defend clients in federal and state courts against claims of wrongful discharge, discrimination, harassment, or other employment law violations, and represent clients before agencies such as the EEOC, NLRB, OSHA, state fair employment and employee relations boards, and other agencies of the Department of Labor.
- Provide consultation on employee discipline, reductions in force, and other workforce management issues.
- Assess wage and hour and immigration law compliance, Family Medical Leave Act compliance and the proper management of other leaves of absence.
- Draft programs to comply with affirmative action and state and federal drug testing requirements.
- Review and defend claims for workers' compensation and unemployment compensation and recommend action to mitigate the cost of those claims.
- Draft contracts, handbooks and policies for governing relationships with employees, independent contractors, temporary and leased employees.
- Design strategies for union avoidance, negotiate collective bargaining agreements, respond to grievances, and defend arbitrations.
