Barger Receives Award

    In December, of counsel attorney Brian P. Barger, was named to the Executive Order of the Ohio Commodore.  People who have been involved in their communities and, by doing so, positively affected economic development in Ohio, are eligible for membership.  Membership to the group is by governor appointment only. 

    Mr. Barger practices law in the areas of environmental, land use, natural resources, regulatory and zoning.  He was involved in drafting Ohio's Great Lakes Compact regulatory program, writing SB 83 (124th General Assembly) which updated and revised the laws pertaining to surface mining and written a number of revisions to county and township zoning laws found in the Ohio Revised Code.  Mr. Barger has experience representing clients both in court and before administrative agencies as well as lobbying. 

    Formed in the 1960s by Governor James A. Rhodes, the group has had over 300 people who have been appointed.  It was named after the War of 1812 hero Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry.
