Transactional real estate, tax matters, land use and zoning, and business-related matters are the focus of Anna E. Rowland’s practice.

Before Ms. Rowland joined the Business Law, Real Estate and Tax practice groups as an associate, she gained valuable legal experience as:

• a summer law clerk at Eastman & Smith as well as another law firm;
• an intern with the Ohio Department of Taxation;
• a student attorney for the Toledo Tax Controversy Clinic; and
• a volunteer for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance.

Her non-legal work experience encompasses interning with an economic development group and several parks, providing high-level insights into business and real estate matters.

She received her law and bachelor’s degrees (American History with a minor in Legal Specialties) both with honors, from the University of Toledo.  While in law school, Ms. Rowland served as the Managing Editor of the University of Toledo Law Review. The law review published her article “Demystifying the Acronyms: Ohio’s Commercial Activity Tax (“CAT”) and the Tax Credit for Qualified Research Expenses (“QRE”).”  Ms. Rowland was also a Leadership Scholar and member of the Tax and Finance Law Association and Business Law Society.

During her undergraduate tenure, Ms. Rowland was recognized as the Outstanding Student of the Year in History for the College of Arts and Letters and an award for Academic Excellence in the History Department for her work on her senior thesis “The Afterbirth of a Nation, Watching the Tension Grow: Hamilton and the Perceptions of the American Revolution.”

Ms. Rowland is active outside the office, enjoying golfing, traveling and powerlifting.
