Brigid Heid Receives Award from Trial Attorney Association
The Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys (OACTA) presented Eastman & Smith member Brigid E. Heid with its Frank Seth Hurd Member of the Year Award. The award is given in recognition of an OACTA member’s contributions to the organization. Ms. Heid currently is a member of the board and has chaired several committees including the Employment Law Committee.
OACTA’s purpose is to promote “fairness , excellence, and integrity in the civil justice system by providing resources and education to attorneys and others dedicated to the defense of civil actions.” This includes their journal, Quarterly Review, in which Ms. Heid has published articles, such as on non-competition agreements.
Ms. Heid regularly assists businesses and business owners in managing legal risks in the workplace. She says, “Like chemistry, employment laws can be complicated. I help my clients understand key legal elements to avoid costly business disruptions.” Ms. Heid counsels on best practices and procedures, handbooks, wage and hour, employee leave and discipline, EEO, internal investigations, and protecting intellectual property and confidential information. In addition to OACTA, Ms. Heid is a member of The International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), an invitation-only global legal organization for attorneys who represent corporate and insurance interests. She is a past president of the Columbus Bar Association and has been named a Best Lawyer in Employment Law by Best Lawyers®.
