Eastman & Smith Remembers John T. Landwehr
The attorneys and staff of Eastman & Smith Ltd. are saddened to announce the passing of our friend and colleague, John T. Landwehr, who died Friday, February 25. John was a member of the Firm's Labor & Employment Practice Group and the first general counsel for Eastman & Smith.
A life-long resident of Northwest Ohio, John graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1961. During his time as a student at Wittenberg University, he spent a year abroad in Murnau, Germany, at the Goethe Institute. After graduation, John served in the U.S. Army Reserves. A graduate of the University of Toledo College of Law, John joined Eastman & Smith in 1974. Prior to that time, he was employed by several major corporations in Ohio and Michigan as a labor relations manager. His practice concentrated on employment-related litigation and advice, including employment discrimination litigation, general labor and employment litigation, arbitration, mediation and workers' compensation. John was a frequent lecturer on employment and workers' compensation law and was listed in Best Lawyers in America.
John chaired the Firm's Technology Committee for a number of years and was an avid electronics enthusiast. He was very involved in the community serving as past president of the Perrysburg Schools Foundation, Belmont Country Club and Carranor Hunt & Polo Club. Tennis, golf, skiing and windsurfing were sports he enjoyed, though golf was his favorite. He was a long-time member of the Belmont Country Club and twice won its Senior Club Championship.
Surviving are John's wife Janet, his children John Landwehr Jr. and Jennifer Landwehr Graham, grandchildren Megan Graham, John Landwehr III and Todd Landwehr, cousins Michael and Sheila Clague and sister-in-law Betty Wick Darbo.
John will be missed very much. He was a great attorney and friend.
