Jamille G. Jamra, an extremely talented and well respected lawyer and member of Eastman & Smith Ltd. for nearly 50 years, passed away on April 8, 2013. Mr. Jamra received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and his law degree from the University of Michigan, where he was associate editor of the Michigan Law Review. He joined Eastman & Smith in 1946 after serving five years in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired from the Firm in 1992. He was a trial lawyer who achieved much success and respect from judges and opposing lawyers alike. As a result of his success and demeanor in the court room, he was invited to become a Fellow in the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers.

Mr. Jamra was a leader in local, state and national bar associations, having served as president of the Lucas County Bar Association, Toledo Junior Bar Association, Toledo Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association. He also served on the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association. In 1981, he was awarded the Ohio Bar Medal, the Ohio State Bar Association's highest honor. He also was active in the community, having served on numerous public and private boards.

Perhaps what Mr. Jamra will be remembered most for is his knowledge of the law and the way he practiced law. He was always ethical, well prepared and showed respect for the court, opposing lawyers and opposing parties. He was a lawyer and a gentleman. Eastman & Smith and its clients have benefited greatly from Mr. Jamra's work, friendship and guidance.
