Eastman & Smith Supports Robotics Team

5/12/15

FIRST is a program that encourages children's interests in science, technology, engineering and math through various efforts, including a robotics competition. High schools throughout the country form teams of at least 25 students who create robots during a six week robot build season. The teams then compete by using their robots to accomplish various tasks. Teams advance from district or regional championships to a world championship in St Louis, Missouri.

This year over 3,500 teams competed, including the team co-sponsored by Eastman & Smith, Bedford Express. Nick Poskarbiewicz, IT Support Specialist at Eastman & Smith, is one of the team's coaches. Bedford Express continued its impressive record by winning the Michigan FIRST Robotics Competition State Championship to qualify for the world championship. In St Louis, Bedford won its division to advance to the championship playoffs where the team made it to the semifinals round. Ultimately an alliance lead by The Robonauts of Houston, Texas, a team sponsored by NASA, won the championship.

Eastman & Smith congratulates the Bedford High School FIRST Robotics Team 1023 on its performance. For more information regarding Bedford Express or FIRST, please visit their web sites.
