Profile

Ms. Brewer brings a strong foundation in legal research, writing and client service to her practice.

Before joining Eastman & Smith, Kate McKenzie Brewer was employed by another law firm and clerked for three other legal employers, including two that focused on immigration law.  These experiences helped her develop a practical, detail-oriented approach to legal analysis and a strong appreciation for the needs of clients navigating complex legal issues.  She utilizes these skills as part of the Labor & Employment and Workers’ Compensation Practice Groups.

Ms. Brewer earned her law degree from the University of Cincinnati, where she served as an articles editor for both the Urban Morgan Institute for Human Rights and the University of Cincinnati Law Review as well as being active in the Student Bar Association.  Ms. Brewer also holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Tennessee.  In 2025 she was admitted to practice law in Ohio.

Originally from Middletown, Ohio, Ms. Brewer’s work ethic was shaped not only through her legal training but also through earlier employment in food service and child care.  Outside the office, she is an avid animal lover, with a particular fondness for cats.
