Barry W. Fissel has more than 25 years of experience as a litigator with Eastman & Smith Ltd. He has applied his professional skills in diverse kinds of disputed matters, proving his ability to litigate any case in state or federal court.
Mr. Fissel's litigation practice has concentrated on employment disputes, often involving injunctions, covenants not to compete, trade secrets, business defamation, employee benefits (ERISA) and discrimination. Mr. Fissel's ERISA litigation has included class actions, multi-employer plan issues, claims against sponsors, administrators and fiduciaries of health and welfare or retirement plans and claims for benefits. His business litigation spans partnership and shareholder disputes, and various contractual disputes. He also has extensive experience in personal injury litigation.
Mr. Fissel received a bachelor of science degree from The Ohio State University in 1978 and graduated from University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1981, where he was a student articles editor of the law review. Mr. Fissel is licensed in the state courts of Ohio, is admitted in the Sixth Circuit and has litigated in federal district courts in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.
